DISCOVER LEBANON

Lebanon, with its Mediterranean climate, is renowned for its hospitality. Though the country has been scarred by civil war and attacks from neighbouring Israel, it is still a popular tourist destination and foreigners don't have to worry about their safety.

There are numorous historical sites dating from Phoenician, Roman Byzantine and Crusader times. Beirut is a bustling metropolis, once known as the Paris of the Middle East, and now as "the city that will not die".

PVA1/ Beirut City Tour (4hrs)
Downtown (Solidere), Corniche, Pigeon's Rock & the National Museum.

PVA2/ Escorted Shopping Tour (5hrs)
The most famous shopping areas and to the artisanat of MOUFTAH EL CHARK.

PVA3/ The Dog River, Jeita Grotto & Harissa (5hrs)
The commemorative inscriptions in the Dog River; Jeita Grotto (the lower & upper galleries); and Jounieh to take the Telepherique (cable car) up to Harissa for a breathtaking view of the bay.

PVA4/ Deir El Qamar & Beiteddine (5hrs)
The town of Deir el-Qamar (the residence of Lebanese governors during 16th century) & the palace of Beiteddine, best example of early 19th century Lebanese architecture with its museums (costume & weapons of that era) as well as a fine collection of well-preserved Byzantine mosaics.

PVA5/ Byblos (4hrs)
The world's oldest continuously inhabited city: Byblos with its fishermen's harbour, the castle, the Church of St. John the Baptist and the souks.

PVA6/ Tyre, Sidon & Eshmoun (9hrs) - Lunch Included.
The greatest of the Phoenician city-state, Tyre, which was declared as a World Heritage Site; Sidon, another Phoenician town, with its Sea Castle and old covered souks; and on its northern gate, the Phoenician Temple complex of Echmoun.

PVA7/ Bcharri, Qadisha Valley & the Cedars (9hrs) - Lunch Included.
Visit the most beautiful mountain landscapes in Lebanon, with spectacular views of peaks and gorges, where the Qadisha Valley is, and the red-roofed Hasroun and Bcharri along with the Cedars of Lebanon nearby, where some trees are over 1000 years old.

PVA8/ Tripoli, Bcharri, Qadisha Valley & the Cedars (12hrs) - Lunch Included.
Lebanon's second largest city, Tripoli: the old part of the city which includes sites from the Mamluke era, such as narrow alleyways, colorful souks, hammams, khans, mosques and theological schools (madrassah); and the Crusaders' Fortress of Raymond de Saint-Gilles. Continue to visit Qadisha Valley, Bcharri, and the Cedars of Lebanon.

PVA9/ Tripoli & Krak des Chevaliers (12hrs)-Lunch Included-UPON REQUEST.
Cross in to Syria to visit to the Crusader fortress of Krak des Chevaliers, overlooking the Homs Gap and Beqaa Valley where its spills the Orontes river onto the plain of Homs. Followed by a visit to Tripoli.

PVA10/ Baalbeck, Anjar & Winery (9hrs) - Lunch Included.
Cross Mount Lebanon range and drive through the Beqaa plain towards Baalbeck, where the greatest Roman treasure, counted among the wonders of the ancient world. Drive to the caves for wine tasting (not applicable on Sundays), with a stop in Aanjar, to visit this historical Omayyad site, located in the southern part of the plain.

PVA11/ Skiing on the slopes of Faraya-Mzaar (6hrs) - Only in winter season.
Best developed ski resort in Lebanon, located in a short distance from Beirut- an ideal place for a one-day skiing trip. There are 13 lifts on the slopes, including 8 chairlifts. The resort was given the approval of the International Ski Federation on 6 tracks: "Refuge". "Jonction", and 3 at "Jabal Dib". Red Cross services are available, besides a ski school.

PVA12/ A Lebanese Night (5hrs) - Dinner Included.
Lebanon's nightlife offers an entirely different outlook on excellent food, but combined with entertainment. This tour will give you the opportunity to visit one of our favorite and selected restaurant/night club to enjoy your meal while watching the belly dancer performing her sensual hip movements and graceful arm movements, in harmony with the traditional Lebanese music.

PVA13/ The Casino du Liban (4hrs) - Dinner Included.
An elegant and only gambling resort in the Arab world.. Four gambling rooms, which offer a wide variety of games to guarantee nonstop amusement and entertainment. However, for those who prefer not to play but watch, there are still something superb to enjoy: Dinner!

PVA14/ A Day in Damascus (12hrs) - Lunch Included - UPON REQUEST.
Cross Mount Lebanon, passing through the Beqaa Valley. Proceed to the Syrian Capital (100km east from Beirut). City tour of Damascus includes Omayad Mosque; street called Straight, Ananias Church, St. Paul's Window and Hamidieh Souk.

PVA19/ The Uncovered Treasure of the South (13hrs during summer, 10hrs during winter when excluding the town of Jizzin) - Lunch Included.
Passing through Sidon & Tyre to Ras Al Ayn where four ancient reservoirs lie; then to Tell Rashidiyye, the site of Palaetyros; proceed to Ras al Bayada, Naqura then turn east passing through the charming typical Lebanese villages and tobacco plantations. Proceed to visit Tibnin Crusader, with its 12th century by Hugues de Saint Omer. Afterthen, pass by another Crusader castle of Dubiyyeh erected on the remains of a Roman temple and contunue northeast towards Arnun, 7km southeast of Town Nabatiye. On top of a hill overlooking the whole area and controlling the road linking the southern Beqaa to Damascus stands a fortress known to Arab travelers as Shqif Arnun, Shqif being a Syriac term meaning high rock. Western travelers call it Belfort or Beaufort. Proceed to Jezzin, the most famous summer and tourist resort of South Lebanon for its landscape and waterfalls. Jizzin is excluded during winter

Breakfast. City tour of Beirut, where the history reveals a long phase of different invasions. Drive along the seashore to the picturesque rocks of the pigeons' Rock through Hamra commercial area to the National museum and the Martyr's Square. Then drive north to Byblos, the city of the most ancient port in the world. Visit the old Souks, Old ramparts, citadel, St. John Church and Roman amphitheater. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel in Beirut.

BEIRUT / ANJAR / BAALBECK/ DAMASCUS
Breakfast. Drive to visit Anjar, dated back from Omayyad period. Continue to Baalbeck, the small town outstanding for its acropolis considered among the most important Roman ruins ever built. Continue to Damascus. Dinner & overnight.

DAMASCUS / SEYDNAYA/ MALOULA/ KRACK DES CHEVALIERS / ALEPPO
Breakfast. Drive to Seydnaya to visit the Blessed Virgin's Convent and then to Ma'lula, the honeycomb village. Built on a very capricious rocky slope. Continue to Krak des Chevaliers, to visit the famous Crusader Fortress, built in 1110. Proceed to Aleppo for dinner and overnight.

Wednesday
ALEPPO
Breakfast. Full day sightseeing of Aleppo one of the oldest cities in the world. Visit the Arabian citadel, Old souks, The Great Mosque, Archeological museum, old barriers and houses from the 17th century. Dinner and overnight in Aleppo.

Thursday
ALEPPO / ST. SIMEION / APAMEA / HAMA / PALMYRA
Breakfast, drive to visit the imposing cathedral of St. Simeon, the Stylite which was the grandest of all 5th century Christian monuments. Continue to Apamea to visit the Greek Roman Byzantine site of Apamea. Then continue to Hama, one of the oldest cities in Syria, famous for its wooden waterwheels, proceed to Palmyra for dinner and overnight

Friday
PALMYRA / DAMASCUS
Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Palmyra, Syria's prime attraction and one of the world's greatest historical sites where the magnificent remains: the Temple of Bel, the Arch of Triumph, Zenobia Bath and more tell stories of the reign of Queen Zenobia. In the Afternoon drive back to Damascus for dinner and overnight.

Saturday
DAMASCUS CITY TOUR
Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Damascus, the oldest capital and continually inhabited city in the world. Visit the Omayyad Mosque, Saladin's Tomb, the Azem Palace, St. Annania's Church, Straight Street, St. Paul's Window and the old covered bazaar. P.M visit of the National museum of Damascus. Continue to Amman via the Syrian - Jordanian border. Dinner and overnight in Amman.

AMMAN / DESERT CASTLES / DEAD SEA / AMMAN
Breakfast. Full day tour to the Desert Castles, built by the Omayyad Caliphs of Damascus in the 8th century A.D. as hunting lodges. Wildly varied in architectural style: Qasr Al-Kharraneh, Qasr Amra and Qasr Al-Azraq. Continue to the Dead Sea - the lowest spot on earth. Time for bathing and relaxing. Dinner and overnight - Amman.

Tuesday
CITY TOUR OF AMMAN / JERASH / AMMAN
Breakfast. Full day tour through Amman, the ancient and modern capital of Jordan, originally built on seven hills and from the top of the citadel, one of the highest hills, you can have a splendid view of the old city. Visit the Citadel, Roman Theater, Archeological, Folklore Museums, and King Abdullah Mosque. Drive north of Amman to visit Jerash, the most beautiful and preserved Roman city in existence. Dinner and overnight-Amman.

AMMAN / MADABA / MOUNT NEBO / KINGS' HIGHWAY / KERAK / PETRA
Breakfast, full day visit through King's Highway, the ancient Silk Road; stop in Madaba, home of the most famous Byzantine Mosaics and most of all the 6th century map of the holy places in the biblical world. Continue to Mount Nebo, with its spectacular view of the Holy Land. Then to Kerak to visit the Crusader Castle from the 12th century. Proceed to Petra for dinner and overnight.

Thursday
PETRA
Breakfast. Full day sightseeing of the unique "rose-red" city of Petra, half as old as time, built by the Arab Nabateans who hewed their monumental tombs, palaces, temples and treasury from the desert rock's sandstone in its' natural hues of rose and gold. Dinner and overnight in Petra.

Friday
PETRA / WADI RUM / AQABA / WADI ARABA / AMMAN
Breakfast. Drive to Wadi Rum the valley of the moon, with a visit by Bedouin Jeeps for 2 hours. Continue to Aqaba for break at the Red Sea. P.M. drive via Wadi Araba and Dead Sea Coast to Amman for dinner and overnight.
OR possibility of extension in Aqaba on the Read Sea or Extension in the Dead Sea
